Strengths
COPE Galway has 60 years experience across our three service areas: homelessness, domestic abuse and healthy ageing.
Our work is informed by
- Prevention and early engagement: for example, by working with people at threat of homelessness; teaching teenagers and young adults about healthy relationships and; encouraging social and health activities for older people to support independent ageing.
- A person-centred approach: we listen to clients to understand their motivations and aspirations. We follow a participatory model when working with children, giving them a voice in the care they receive.
- Embracing ageing: we emphasise the continued contributions made by older people to society and those around them.
- Trauma-informed practice: we seek to assist clients to understand what they have experienced and process past and current trauma. All our staff are trained in trauma informed practice and this informs their approach and work with clients and all stakeholders
