EU Project Experience
Some experience
The Music in Healthcare/ Mental Health project was developed under the Culture and Health Strand of Cork 2005 - European Capital of Culture, and in association with the HSE Southern Area and Music Network. The programme was developed in two mental health facilities in Cork. It brought clients and staff together with professional musicians in a collaborative process that encouraged individual and group creativity.
The programme delivered a range of positive personal, social and artistic outcomes and helped to enhance the therapeutic environment and quality of life on offer to both clients and staff. The programme also added to the skills and experience of the two musicians employed to facilitate the workshops, who successfully adapted their existing creative and facilitative skills to a new setting.
EU Funding Goals
Short-term: interested in forming new partnerships with aligned organisations across the EU.
Long-term: work to develop new and diverse audiences for live music in Ireland and abroad.
Strenghts
Music Network’s musician partnerships and relationships are next to none in Ireland. Our access to the top musicians allows us to tailor-make events for a wide range of communities and create transformative experiences through music.
Currently, we work with over 40 promoters nationwide, making us the right organisation to advocate for music access in “hard to reach” communities.
