The Waterford Sustainable Living Initiative (SLi) primarily works with young people, in both formal and non-formal sectors, around issues of responsible consumption, sustainable development and living, and climate action. We offer educational programmes that use participatory and creative methods. We also produce resources for teachers, youth workers and facilitators working in these areas. We are active on social media using it as a tool to connect with young people.

EU Project Experience

Some experience.

People and Planet was a DEAR funded project that focussed on climate and sustainable actions for young people. We were a partner in an 8-country, 4 year project.

ACT was an Erasmus+ funded project that developed resources for young people to design their own climate  and sustainability actions as well as one for teachers/facilitators using gamification and participatory methods.

DISMISS Media Manipulation is an Erasmus+ funded programme that works with young people to identify mis- and disinformation, develop teaching resources and deliver high-profile event on media literacy.

EU Funding Goals

In 2 years, we would like to feel confident that we understand the various EU funding streams and that we are an attractive and productive partner for our European colleagues.

In 5-years we would like to be in a position to be lead partner on a large multi-country project.

In 10-years, we would like to be involved in multiple EU project with the staff necessary to work at this level.

Strengths

We have a very active non-formal sector youth group that works within our organisation who are always looking for fun and interesting activities to implement.

We have a strong social media presence.

We work within the framework of the SDGs with a focus on responsible consumption, sustainable living, and climate action and climate justice.
